Have you ever wanted to try a chicken breast recipe that has a bit of sweetness to go along with some spice? You may want to give root beer chicken an opportunity. Root beer gives a sweet taste to the meal, while also providing a bit of its own kick. Garlic, onion, and bell pepper are used to add a blend of flavors.
This root beer chicken recipe makes servings for 6 people.
The total preparation and cooking time can vary from about 30 minutes for frying to around, or slightly above, 1 hour for oven cooking.
Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds chicken breasts
1 onion, thinly sliced
1 bell pepper, any color, sliced
2 medium garlic cloves, minced
1 12 fl. oz. can of your choice of root beer
Directions
To cook in the oven, place the chicken breasts in a casserole dish and top it with the additional ingredients. Cover the recipe and allow it to bake at 350 degrees for about 35 to 45 minutes, until the chicken becomes tender. Finally, remove the cover and let the baking continue for another 10 minutes.
To fry on the stove, put the chicken breasts into a pan, and turn the flame to medium heat. First add the root beer, followed by the rest of the ingredients. Allow the root beer to reach a boil, then flip the chicken breasts to provide even cooking on both sides.
