What is chicken schnitzel?

Chicken schnitzel is golden brown and crispy on the outside and juicy chicken on the inside. Chicken breast seasoned with spices then coat with flour and then dip it in the mixture and then coat with bread crumbs and fry it until it crispy and golden brown.

Ingredients needed to make chicken schnitzel

  • 4 skinless and boneless chicken breast.
  • 3 eggs.
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard(optional).
  • 2 ½  cups bread crumbs.
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder.
  • 1 teaspoon paprika.
  • 1 teaspoon oregano(optional).
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper powder.
  • Salt ( as required).
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour.
  • Oil ( for deep fry).

Step by step process to make chicken schnitzel

  • Firstly make the mixture of garlic powder,  oregano, ½ teaspoon black pepper powder and salt (keep aside).
  • Then take one medium-size bowl and add eggs, salt, and Dijon mustard and mix it well (keep aside).
  • After that cut each chicken breast into two parts and place each piece of the chicken breast between two sheets of plastic wrap.
  • Pound the chicken breast using a rolling pin until they are thick about  ½ cm.
  • Now season each chicken breast with garlic powder, oregano, black pepper powder, and salt mixture (season both sides of chicken breast ).
  • Take breadcrumbs on one plate and flour on another plate.
  • Then take a seasoned chicken breast and coat each chicken breast with flour and then dip in the egg mixture and coat with bread crumbs ( repeat the process for each chicken breast).
  • Add schnitzel on hot oil and fry for 4 to 5 minutes until it golden flip the schnitzel and fry it.
  • Remove the schnitzel from oil and transfer it to a plate lined with a pepper towel.

Serving suggestions

  • Serve this crispy chicken schnitzel with roasted broccoli, roast potatoes, potato fries,  pasta, or salad.

Tips to make chicken schnitzel

  • Thinly pound the chicken breast.
  • you can also bake the schnitzel.
  • Season each chicken breast well first before coating.
