Hot And Spicy Pepper Chicken Recipe At Home

What is pepper chicken?

Pepper chicken is a south Indian recipe available at any Andhra nonveg restaurant. This is a hot, spicy, and aromatic recipe made with marinated chicken, spices powder, and crushed black pepper powder. Marinated chicken is cooked with onion, tomato, and ginger-garlic paste and then add spices powder, crushed pepper powder, salt, and some water and cook it. After cooking remove it in a serving bowl and garnish with freshly chopped coriander and serve with roti or plain rice.

Key Ingredients Used In A Recipe

  • Chicken  I have used skinless and boneless chicken chopped chicken ( you can use your choice of chicken).
  • Black pepper – Use crushed or powdered black pepper ( it is the main ingredient of the recipe).
  • Spices – Use spices like cardamom, cinnamon, cumin, cloves, star anise and bay leaf ( Use spices powder).

Ingredients Needed To Make Pepper Chicken Recipe

Ingredients for marinating

  • 500 gm skinless and boneless chicken breast ( chopped).
  • 1 small cup curd.
  • 2 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste.
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder.
  • ½ teaspoon coriander powder.
  • Salt ( to taste).

Other ingredients needed to make a recipe

  • 2 onions ( chopped).
  • 1 tomato ( chopped).
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste.
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper ( crushed).
  • ½ teaspoon paprika.
  • 2 green cardamoms.
  • 3 to 4 bay leaf.
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin seeds.
  • 5 to 6 cloves.
  • 1-star anise.
  • 2 to 3 cinnamon sticks.
  • 1 ½ tablespoon Oil.
  • Coriander ( for garnishing) (optional).

Step By Step Process To Make Pepper Chicken Recipe

Step 1 marinate the chicken

Take one bowl and add chicken, curd, ginger-garlic paste,  turmeric powder, coriander powder and  Salt ( to taste).

Mix all the ingredients with chicken and keep it aside for 30 minutes.

Step 2 preparing for pepper chicken

Firstly, take one pan and heat it on medium flame once the pan is getting hot then add cardamoms, bay leaf, cumin seeds, cloves,  cinnamon sticks, star anise, and sauté it for 5 minutes.

Then remove it from pan and wait to cool then make a fine paste in grinder.

After that take one pot and heat it then add oil once oil is getting hot then add ginger garlic paste and sate it then add onion and sauté it for 2 to 3 minutes after that add tomato mix it and cook it for 2 minutes.

Then add crushed black peppers, paprika and marinated chicken mix it well and cook it 5 to 6 minutes on medium flame by covering the lid.

After 5  minutes add salt and spices powder and mix it well and add a cup of water and cook it for  10 minutes (cover the lid while cooking).

Your pepper chicken is ready to serve.

Remove it in a serving bowl and garnish with fresh chopped coriander and serve it with roti or plain rice.

This hot, spicy and aromatic pepper chicken serve with plain rice, paratha, roti, or naan.
