About This Recipe

This Indian cuisine recipe is so easy to make in which marinated chicken with yogurt is sauteed in oil with medium flame and add in creamy and rich tomato gravy with spices. Tikka means chunks or cubes marinated and grilled and cooked in gravy.

Spices Used In Chicken Tikka Masala
  • Black peppers
  • cumin seeds
  • Star anise, cinnamon, green cardamom, black cardamom, bay leaf, cumin, cloves and dry coriander seeds (includes in garam masala).
  • turmeric powder.
  • red chili powder.

Ingredients Needed To Make Chicken Tikka Masala

Ingredients For Chicken Tikka Marinade
  • 500gm boneless and skinless chicken breast (cut in bite-size).
  • ½ cup yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste.
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder.
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder.
  • ½ teaspoon red chili powder.
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala.
  • 1 ½ teaspoon lemon juice.
  • Pinch of black pepper powder.
  • Salt (as required).
  • 2 teaspoon olive oil.
Ingredients For Gravy
  • 3 ½ tablespoon oil.
  • 1 small cup onion (chopped).
  • 2 ½ cup tomato puree.
  • 2 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste.
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar.
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter.
  • 1 tablespoon cream fresh cream.
  • 1 tablespoon Red chili powder.
  • Salt ( as required).
  • Coriander (for garnish)(chopped).
Spices For Chicken Tikka Masala
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds.
  • 1 cinnamon stick.
  • 1-star anise.
  • 1 teaspoon coriander seeds.
  • 2 cloves, 2 green cardamoms, and 1 black cardamom.
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder.

Step By Step Instructions To Make Chicken Tikka Masala.

Step 1: marinate the chicken
  • Take one large bowl and in a bowl add chicken, yogurt, ginger garlic paste, cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, lemon juice, black pepper powder, olive oil, and salt and mix all the mixture keep aside ( marinate chicken for 30 minutes).
 Step 2: a fine paste of spices
  • Then take one pan and heat it on high flame and then take all the spices together and add in a pan sauté it for 2-3 minutes and then make a fine paste of all the spices in the grinder.
Step 3: cook chicken
  • Take one pan to add 1 tablespoon oil and once the oil is hot then add marinated chicken in the pan and sauté until chicken turns into golden brown color once the chicken is cooked then remove the chicken in one bowl and keep aside.
Step 4 : Final recipe
  • In the pan add oil and butter unsalted then add onion and ginger-garlic paste and sauté it for 2 minutes then add spices powder turmeric powder, red chili powder and stir it then add tomato puree and cream and mix all the ingredients and cook for 5 minutes on high flame then add chicken, salt, sugar and water (as required) in gravy mix it well and again cook it for 10 minutes by covering the gravy.
  • Once the gravy is cooked then garnish it with coriander and serve.

  • This creamy and delicious mouth-watering recipe serve with roti, naan, jeera rice, plain rice, and chapatti.

  • Marinate chicken in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
