Traditional Pakistani Chicken Biryani Recipe

When we talking about the Pakistani cuisine, we can say that it is a mixture of various south Asian regional cooking traditions. We found that fusion Mughlai cuisine is the most popular cuisine in Pakistani restaurants. Also, rice dishes are popular in most of the regions of Pakistan especially the Pakistani rice dishes. Dal chawal is the most simple dish of Pakistani cuisine. For this dish, the rice cooked in-plane water and serve with dal. Also Khichadi, Karhi chawal and Biryani are the more popular rice dishes in Pakistan. Pakistani Biryani is cooked with fish, lamb, chicken, beef, or shrimp.

Ingredients Needed To Make Biryani:
  • Basmati Rice 750 Kg
  • Boneless and skinless chicken breast 750 Kg (Bite-size chopped)
  • Cumin Seeds 2 tsp
  • Cloves 5-6
  • Vegetable Oil 250 ml
  • Onion 2-3
  • Garlic 1 medium size
  • Ginger 1
  • Plain Yogurt 1 cup
  • Black Cardamoms 5-6
  • Cinnamon Stick 3 medium size
  • Black Pepper 4-5
  • Cardamoms 4-5
  • Turmeric 1 tsp
  • Green Chilies 3-4
  • Dried Prunes 5-6
  • Red Chili Powder 3-4 tsp
  • Coriander medium bunch
  • Fresh Lemon 1
  • Salt as per taste



Step By Step Process To Make Biryani
  • Before getting started for cooking, wash the rice until it gets clean.
  • Take a large pan and add water, salt, cumin seeds and cloves in it and then allow it to boil.
  • Once the water started boiling then add rice in it and again allow it to boil. 
  • Then keep the pan on medium heat for about 8-10 minutes.
  • After about 8-10 minutes drain the rice immediately and spread it on a tray to get cool.
  • Next, get another pan and add some vegetable oil in it and put it on medium heat.
  • Once the oil gets heated then add sliced onion in it and fry it until onion turns into golden brown color.
  • Make the powder of cloves, cinnamon, cardamoms, pepper and cumin with the help of a grinder.
  • Also, make the power of cardamoms separately and keep it aside.
  • Make the ginger and garlic paste and keep it aside.
  • Then add chicken in the pan and stir this chicken for a few minutes during this time chicken gets a little fried.
  •  After this add ginger-garlic paste and cloves, cinnamon, cardamoms, pepper & cumin powder in it. Mix it properly.
  • Cover the chicken and put it on lower heat for 20 minutes.
  • Cut the green chili through the middle from upper to lower and make the slice on a lemon.
  • After20 minutes chicken gets cooked add the yogurt and some water and cook it for little.
  • Make the layer of biryani, make 2-3 parts of rice. Spread half of the rice in the pan then add cooked chicken on it and then again spread rice layer.
  • Layout the lemon slices and green chili slices and on the top spread rest of the rice and cardamom with turmeric power on it.
  • Now cover the pot and put it on high heat for 4-5 minutes then lower the heat then keep it until the rice gets fully cooked. 
  • Once the rice gets cooked remove from heat and put a pot aside until steam gets removed.
  • Here's your biryani is gets ready. Garnish this biryani with Mint leaves & Coriander leaves and serve it.
