Roll recipe is the popular street food of India and it is also known as Frankie food, Frankie recipe or Kathi roll. Basically in this recipe, marinated chicken cooked with veggies and wrapped in chapati or paratha.
From the last few days, I am craving for some good food and the chicken roll recipe is the best recipe to fulfill your eating needs. Making these delicious and tasty chicken rolls at home is very easy and quick. Chicken roll is quite popular and one of the famous and favorite evening snack. You can enjoy this tasty chicken rolls as lunch or as dinner. Chicken roll is straight from the streets of Indian cities and it is a simple chicken breast recipe.

The chicken roll recipe is a delightful North Indian recipe made with all-purpose flour, chicken, variety of veggies and fragrant Indian spices. If you don’t like all-purpose flour then use whole wheat flour or maida.

Ingredients to make chicken roll
Ingredients for dough
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour.
  • ½ tablespoon oil.
  • ½ cup of water.
  • Salt ( to taste ).

Ingredients for marinating 
  • 25 gm yogurt.
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper powder.
  • ½ tablespoon lime juice.
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala.
  • 2 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste.
  • ½ teaspoon paprika.
  • ½ teaspoon coriander powder.
  • Pinch of turmeric powder.
  • Salt ( as required).

Ingredients for filling
  • 1 tablespoon oil.
  • 250 gm boneless and skinless chicken breast (cubes).
  • 1 large onion ( thinly sliced).
  • 1 tomato (chopped).
  • 1 ½ tablespoon ginger garlic paste.
  • 3 to 4 green chilies (chopped).
  • 1 capsicum ( thinly sliced).
  • 2 tablespoon coriander ( finely chopped).
  • 1 ½ teaspoon tomato ketchup.
  • 1 lemon.

Spices 
  • ½ teaspoon paprika.
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder.
  • 1 teaspoon chat masala

Step by step process to make chicken roll
Marinate process
  1. First, we prepare for marinating chicken.
  2. Take one large bowl and add chicken breast, yogurt, black pepper powder, lime juice, garam masala, ginger-garlic paste, paprika, coriander powder, turmeric powder, Salt ( as required) and mix all the ingredients well and keep aside (marinate the chicken in the refrigerator for 30 minutes).
  3. Preparation for filling
  4. Heat one pan and some oil in the pan once the oil getting hot then add marinated chicken in it and roast the chicken on low flame for 5 minutes ( mix the chicken continuously).
  5. Then add ½ cup water and cover the lid and cook it for 5 minutes.
  6. Take out the chicken in a bowl and keep aside.
  7. Heat oil in a pan add ginger garlic paste, onion slices, tomato, and capsicum slices and chopped green chilies mix it well and then add chicken, paprika, Garam masala, and tomato sauce stir and fry it for 3 to 4 minutes on high flame (set aside).

Preparation for dough
  1. Take all-purpose flour and add salt and oil and rub the oil into the flour until it resembles breadcrumbs in texture then add water (add water as required and knead) in flour mixture and knead continuously for 5 to 6 minutes.
  2. The dough should be soft and smooth.
  3. Coat the dough with oil and cover and rest for 30 minutes.
  4. After 30 minutes its time to make parathas
  5. Make a 3 small portion of dough and make a round ball of a small portion.
  6. roll out each ball into a round paratha style and Heat a Tawa on medium flame and cook the parathas one side first and then flip the paratha and cook and cook both sides without oil first and (cook for a minute) then add 1 tbsp oil for each side and cook the parathas both sides until light brown spot appears( avoid too much flipping because paratha may get hard).

Final recipe  
  1.  Now on hot parathas arrange the chicken mixture and drizzle some lemon juice over the chicken mixture and sprinkle chat masala and some chopped coriander.
  2. Roll the paratha and wrap half of the roll with tissue paper and fold the bottom part of the tissue inside the roll and serve it 
  3. Street style chicken roll is ready to serve.

What to serve with chicken roll 
  • serve the chicken rolls with chutney or with tomato ketchup.

Tips to make chicken roll 
  • You can chapati or roti for making the roll.
  • You can use your favorite veggies for feeling.

 Overview 
  • Firstly marinated the chicken with all the ingredients and keep it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  •  Then heat the pan add some oil once the is hot then add marinated chicken roast it for some minutes then add water and cook it
  • Once it is done take out in a bowl and keep aside.
  • Again heat oil in a pan add ginger garlic paste, onion slices, tomato, and capsicum slices and chopped green chilies, chicken, paprika, garam masala, and tomato sauce stir and fry it for 3 to 4 minutes on high flame (set aside).
  • Let's prepare for parathas
  • Take flour and oil, salt and water knead continuously for 5 to 6 minutes and keep the dough aside for 30 minutes.
  • Then make 3 small portions of dough and make a round ball of small portion and roll out each ball into round paratha style.
  • Heat the Tava add some oil and cook the paratha (cook both sides of paratha ).
  • Now on hot parathas arrange the chicken mixture drizzle some lemon juice and sprinkle chat masala and coriander powder and roll the paratha and wrap it half of the paratha in tissue paper.
  • And serve it with green chutney or with tomato ketchup.
