There are various types of chicken recipes and some are known to everyone but some are not known to everyone and chicken katsu curry recipe is one of them because this substance is not familiar to the many peoples and that is the reason in this post I am going to share how to make chicken katsu curry recipe at home with simple step by step instruction.  Most people don’t know about chicken katsu curry but it is a potato and carrot-based unique dish served with plain rice and crunchy chicken breast.  While making chicken katsu curry first need to prepare curry that is made with potato, carrot, onion, all-purpose flour, chicken cubes, curry powder, and some other ingredients and then crunchy chicken breast also made with a coating of flour, egg mixture, and breadcrumbs and fried it in a pan until it turns golden brown in color and the cut the crunchy chicken and serve it with katsu curry and plain cooked rice.  This chicken katsu curry is a very simple and easiest recipe and it is perfect for a dinner recipe

to  make chicken katsu curry we need the elements like one deep pot, frying pan,  cooking spoons and tong, knife, cutting board, plate, and some other elements.

Key ingredients

  • Chicken breast: chicken breast is the important ingredient of this recipe, so choose good quality and fresh chicken breast to make chicken katsu curry.
  • Veggies and masalas: curry is part of this recipe so we need some veggies like potato and carrot and some masalas like curry powder and coriander powder.
  • Coating ingredients:  To make chicken breast crunchy we need all-purpose flour, bread crumbs, and an egg.

Ingredients needed to make the recipe

Ingredients for chicken breast coating  :

  • 1 or 2 chicken breasts.
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour.
  • 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs.
  • 2 eggs.
  • Black pepper powder ( as required ). 
  • Salt ( as required ).
  • 2 tablespoons Oil ( for frying)

Ingredients for katsu curry  :

  • 2 potatoes ( sliced ).
  • 1 carrot ( sliced ).
  • 1 large onion ( roughly chopped ).
  • 1 ½ teaspoons of ginger garlic paste.
  • 1 teaspoon of coriander powder.
  • 1 ½ teaspoons of curry powder.
  • 1 teaspoon of red chili powder.
  • ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder.
  • 1 teaspoon of soya sauce.
  • 1 teaspoon of brown sugar.
  • 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour.
  • 1 chicken cube.
  • Salt ( as per taste ).
  • Water ( if needed )

Other ingredients : 

  • 1 bowl of Cooked plain rice.
  • 1 tablespoon chopped coriander.

The process to make chicken katsu curry recipe

Step 1:  katsu curry making

  • To make a chicken katsu curry recipe we need one deep pot and that pot is placed on gas on medium flame and  add oil in it.
  • Once the oil is getting hot then add ginger garlic paste and saute it for a second then immediately add roughly chopped onion and stir fry the onion for a minute.
  • After that add sliced potato and carrot and fry these veggies for 2 to 3 minutes. now add  coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, curry powder, all-purpose flour, and brown sugar and mix all the ingredients well. ( note: do this process on the medium gas flame ).
  • Then after mixing add 1 ½ cups of water, salt ( as per taste ), and chicken cube and again mix it together and cook the mixture for 6 to 7 minutes on medium flame and switch the flame.
  • Your katsu curry is ready, keep it aside.

Step  2:  crunchy chicken breast

  • Now it's time to move to how to make chicken breast crunchy and here is a process to make chicken breast crunchy.
  • Firstly take a chicken breast and cut it lengthwise into two parts it will help to get a thin size of chicken breast.
  • Now make tender the chicken breast parts with a rolling pin by rolling.
  • Then chicken breast parts place on a plate and sprinkle some salt and paprika to one side of the chicken breast rub it for a minute and apply the same process to another side of the chicken breast parts.
  • Now place the all-purpose flour in one plate, breadcrumbs in one plate, and beaten egg in one plate.
  • Now first coat the chicken breast in all-purpose flour then deep it in a beaten egg batter and then again coat the chicken breast with bread crumbs.
  • After that place, the frying pan on gas on medium flame and add oil to it once the oil is getting hot then add coated chicken breast and fry both sides of the chicken until it turns golden brown in color. Apply the same process to the remaining chicken breast.

Step 3: The process to serve this recipe :

  • Take one plate and on the plate place cooked rice on one side and then cut the fried chicken breast and place it on the rice beside the rice add hot katsu curry and garnish with coriander and serve it.
  • Your chicken katsu curry with crunchy chicken breast and  cooked rice is ready to serve.

Tips to make chicken katsu curry

  • In curry making process you can also use flour paste instead of flour.
  • I have used brown sugar in this recipe for a sweet taste, if you don’t have brown sugar you can also use honey.
  • Katsu curry is served hot with hot cooked rice.
